Homeless

As beautiful and wonderful as Portland, Oregon, is, it has its homeless problems like everywhere else.  In the downtown area, I saw a lot of homeless people; or, if they weren't homeless, they were definitely down on their luck.

As I was walking around the Chinatown area, I came across this place called Right 2 Dream Too (http://right2dreamtoo.blogspot.com/).  It is a place where the homeless and in-need can go to get dry, warm and stay safe.  It was a remarkable place.  It's very inspirational when you see your fellow human beings helping those in need.

They have these doors on display.  Artists paint the doors and they sell them, with all the proceeds going into Right 2 Dream Too.

Right2DreamToo (R2DToo) was established on World Homeless Action Day, October 10, 2011. We are a nonprofit organization operating a space that provides refuge and a safe space to rest or sleep undisturbed for Portland's unhoused community who cannot access affordable housing or shelter. We exist to awaken social and political groups to the importance of safe, undisturbed sleep. Our purpose is to create a place where unhoused people can rest or sleep without being rousted by police or private security and without being under the threat of violence.
